Advancing 3D cell culture with Expertise and Innovation

Thank you for your interest in conducting space biology research at Bio-Orbit, a cutting-edge facility dedicated to advancing scientific exploration in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA). To propose a new project and gain access to our state-of-the-art laboratories and resources, please follow the steps outlined below.

How to access

It is highly recommended to contact us beforehand project submission for assessing suitability, feasibility, and availability of the facility.

To address a research question through experimental studies at Bio-orbit, you can ask for support from ESA, up to €50k, to cover the access costs to the facility. To apply for funding, you should submit a research proposal to the OSIP platform.

To submit the proposal, it is required to fill in all sections of the submission form in the portal. You can prepare the proposal using our template:

ESA SciSpace Programme

In order to be eligible for funding, you must be affiliated with recognized research institutions (such as universities, colleges, hospitals, institutes) located in one of the Member States participating to ESA’s SciSpacE Programme
